Overview

DecisionPoint seeks a Content Strategist / Information Architect to lead enterprise-level content governance and information architecture for all digital resources supporting a large federal and DoD-aligned mission environment. This role oversees structured content strategy, taxonomy discipline, metadata application, lifecycle management, and ecosystem-wide content cohesion across websites, LMS content, staff applications, and digital tools. 

The Content Strategist / Information Architect ensures that online resources remain accurate, user-centered, accessible, searchable, and aligned with organizational priorities. This role collaborates closely with UX, content, creative, IT, and program teams to ensure structured content practices and governance frameworks are consistently implemented. 

This position is fully remote.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Content Strategist / Information Architect will: 

  • Lead content governance for all online MC&FP resources including websites, LMS content, staff applications, and digital platforms. 
  • Develop and maintain content structures, metadata models, taxonomy rules, and controlled vocabularies. 
  • Conduct content inventories, audits, and gap analyses to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to governance standards. 
  • Oversee content lifecycle management including versioning, supersession, archival, and publishing workflows. 
  • Collaborate with UX, design, and content teams to improve navigation, content hierarchy, and information architecture. 
  • Ensure all digital content meets Section 508/WCAG accessibility requirements and plain language standards. 
  • Partner with technical teams to support CMS structure, template design, and structured content development. 
  • Create and maintain enterprise content models, governance guides, and editorial frameworks. 
  • Support metadata tagging, SEO optimization, and structured data alignment. 
  • Provide guidance to writers, designers, and program stakeholders on content best practices. 
  • Develop content governance KPIs and support reporting on content quality and compliance. 

Qualifications

Clearance Requirement 

Must hold an active Secret clearance, supported by a Tier 3 background investigation. 

 

Education (Required) 

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Information Science, Technical Communication, UX Writing, or a related field. 

 

Experience (Required) 

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in content strategy, information architecture, or digital content governance. 
  • Experience developing content models, taxonomies, metadata structures, and structured content systems. 
  • Experience conducting content audits, inventories, and governance compliance checks. 
  • Experience collaborating with UX, content, design, and technical teams on digital content planning. 

 

Technical Knowledge (Required) 

  • Strong understanding of information architecture, structured content, metadata, and taxonomy standards. 
  • Experience with content management systems and governance workflows. 
  • Knowledge of SEO, structured data, and digital findability principles. 
  • Understanding of accessibility standards (508/WCAG) and plain language requirements. 

Technical Knowledge (Preferred) 

  • Experience implementing enterprise content governance frameworks. 
  • Familiarity with CMS template systems, content modeling tools, or design systems. 
  • Experience working in federal or DoD digital environments. 

 

Skills 

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and structured content design skills. 
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities across creative, technical, and program teams. 
  • High attention to detail and governance discipline. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to recommend and implement content improvements. 
  • Ability to manage multiple content governance initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
