Overview

DecisionPoint seeks an Archivist to manage, preserve, organize, and catalog enterprise multimedia, creative, and communications assets supporting a large federal and DoD-aligned mission environment. This role ensures the long-term accessibility, integrity, and discoverability of digital and physical content, including photos, videos, graphics, documents, creative artifacts, and historical materials. 

The Archivist maintains compliant archival practices, applies metadata and taxonomy standards, and ensures that stored content meets federal archival requirements. This position plays a critical role in safeguarding institutional knowledge, supporting continuity, and enabling strategic reuse of creative and communications materials across the enterprise. 

This position is fully remote.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Archivist will: 

  • Manage, catalog, preserve, and organize multimedia and communications assets including videos, images, graphics, documents, and historical materials. 
  • Maintain digital asset management (DAM) systems, ensuring accuracy and consistency across metadata, taxonomy, and archival structures. 
  • Apply federal archival standards, retention policies, and preservation best practices. 
  • Ensure long-term accessibility and integrity of all archived materials through proper format standards, backups, and preservation workflows. 
  • Conduct archival audits to verify accuracy, metadata completeness, and compliance. 
  • Develop and maintain finding aids, archival indexes, inventories, and collection descriptions. 
  • Support rapid retrieval of archived assets for communications, leadership engagements, and mission needs. 
  • Collaborate with content creators, video teams, designers, and communications staff to ensure correct ingestion and tagging of new assets. 
  • Oversee lifecycle management including versioning, supersession, and archive/purge workflows. 
  • Train staff on archival procedures, metadata discipline, and DAM system use. 
  • Support digital preservation strategy, including file conversions, storage standards, and risk mitigation.

Qualifications

Clearance Requirement 

Candidate must possess a Tier 2 Moderate Risk Public Trust (from any federal agency) or an active Secret clearance or higher. 

 

Education (Required) 

Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Archival Studies, Information Science, Museum Studies, History, or a related field. 

 

Experience (Required) 

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in archival management, digital asset management, or library/records management. 
  • Experience applying archival metadata standards (e.g., Dublin Core, PREMIS, METS). 
  • Experience managing multimedia collections in large or complex organizations. 
  • Experience conducting archival audits and maintaining organized digital repositories. 

 

Technical Knowledge (Required) 

  • Knowledge of archival systems, DAM platforms, and metadata/taxonomy standards. 
  • Understanding of federal archival requirements, retention schedules, and preservation policies. 
  • Experience with digital preservation formats, file standards, and migration processes. 
  • Familiarity with accessibility (508/WCAG) considerations for stored content. 

Technical Knowledge (Preferred) 

  • Experience in federal or DoD archival environments. 
  • Knowledge of historical research methods or museum collection practices. 
  • Familiarity with cloud-based storage and preservation systems. 

 

Skills 

  • Strong organizational and cataloging abilities with excellent attention to detail. 
  • Ability to maintain metadata and archival standards with precision. 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with creative and technical teams. 
  • Ability to manage large volumes of assets in fast-paced environments. 
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and archival governance discipline.
