Overview

DecisionPoint seeks an Audio Engineer to deliver high-quality audio recording, mixing, and engineering services supporting a large federal and DoD-aligned mission environment. This role is responsible for producing clean, professional audio for podcasts, videos, webinars, virtual events, leadership communications, and other multimedia products. 

The Audio Engineer ensures optimal sound quality across all recording environments, manages audio post-production workflows, and collaborates closely with videographers, producers, podcasters, and communications teams. This position plays a critical role in enhancing audience engagement and ensuring all audio content meets enterprise technical and accessibility standards. 

This position is fully remote, with occasional travel for on-site recording as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Audio Engineer will: 

  • Provide end-to-end audio engineering, including recording, mixing, cleanup, and mastering. 
  • Record and engineer audio for podcasts, videos, webinars, live events, and interviews. 
  • Set up and manage audio equipment, microphones, mixers, preamps, and digital interfaces. 
  • Reduce background noise, balance levels, eliminate artifacts, and ensure clarity and consistency. 
  • Add music, effects, transitions, and audio enhancements aligned with creative direction. 
  • Support remote and in-studio recordings, including multi-speaker and panel discussions. 
  • Ensure all audio outputs meet Section 508 accessibility standards, including transcript alignment. 
  • Collaborate with video editors, producers, and communications teams to ensure audio continuity. 
  • Prepare final audio deliverables for publishing, streaming, or integration into multimedia content. 
  • Maintain organized audio libraries, naming conventions, and production documentation. 
  • Troubleshoot audio issues during live events and provide real-time adjustments. 

Qualifications

Clearance Requirement 

Candidate must possess a Tier 2 Moderate Risk Public Trust (from any federal agency) or an active Secret clearance or higher. 

 

Education (Required) 

Bachelor’s degree in Audio Engineering, Sound Design, Music Production, Digital Media, or a related field. 

 

Experience (Required) 

  • Minimum 7 years of professional audio engineering experience. 
  • Experience recording audio for podcasts, video production, webinars, and live events. 
  • Experience with audio cleanup, mixing, mastering, and post-production workflows. 
  • Experience collaborating with creative, communications, or multimedia teams. 

 

Technical Knowledge (Required) 

  • Proficiency with audio tools such as Adobe Audition, Pro Tools, Audacity, or Logic Pro. 
  • Strong understanding of audio mixing, EQ, compression, gating, and sound restoration. 
  • Knowledge of microphone types, placement techniques, soundproofing, and acoustic treatment. 
  • Ability to produce accessible, 508-compliant audio outputs. 

Technical Knowledge (Preferred) 

  • Experience supporting federal or DoD communication or multimedia environments. 
  • Familiarity with video editing platforms to support integrated media workflows. 
  • Experience engineering multi-track, remote, or hybrid studio recordings. 

 

Skills 

  • Excellent attention to audio detail and sound quality. 
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Ability to manage multiple recording and editing projects concurrently. 
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across creative teams. 
  • Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality results under deadlines.
