Overview

DecisionPoint seeks a Photographer to provide high-quality photography services supporting a large federal and DoD-aligned mission environment. This role captures professional imagery for events, campaigns, leadership engagements, digital content, promotional materials, and visual storytelling assets that contribute to enterprise communications efforts. 

The Photographer will collaborate closely with creative teams, communications personnel, and program stakeholders to ensure visual content aligns with brand standards and supports mission messaging. The role requires technical proficiency, creative vision, and strong attention to detail to deliver polished and impactful imagery across multiple mediums. 

This position is fully remote, with travel requirements for on-site photography assignments as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Photographer will: 

  • Capture high-quality photos for events, campaigns, portraits, promotional materials, and web/social content. 
  • Conduct on-site and studio photography sessions for program teams, leadership, and special initiatives. 
  • Edit and retouch images to meet brand, technical, and accessibility standards. 
  • Prepare optimized imagery for print, web, and social platforms. 
  • Collaborate with creative staff to support visual storytelling needs and content plans. 
  • Maintain organized digital asset collections and follow naming/versioning standards. 
  • Ensure all photos comply with federal, DoD, and agency branding guidelines. 
  • Work with multimedia teams to integrate imagery into videos, graphics, and publications. 
  • Support rapid-turn photo requests and high-visibility campaign needs. 
  • Provide recommendations on equipment, lighting, and composition for best results. 

Qualifications

Clearance Requirement 

Candidate must possess a Tier 2 Moderate Risk Public Trust (from any federal agency) or an active Secret clearance or higher. 

 

Education (Required) 

Bachelor’s degree in Photography, Digital Media, Fine Arts, or a related creative discipline. 

 

Experience (Required) 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a professional photographer. 
  • Experience capturing images for events, campaigns, public affairs, or mission-focused work. 
  • Experience editing, retouching, and preparing images for print and digital distribution. 
  • Experience working with creative or communications teams in a collaborative environment. 

 

Technical Knowledge (Required) 

  • Proficiency with DSLR and mirrorless photography equipment. 
  • Expertise in Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, and related editing tools. 
  • Knowledge of lighting equipment, composition, and color correction. 
  • Ability to prepare photos for web, print, and social media formats. 

Technical Knowledge (Preferred) 

  • Experience in federal or DoD communication environments. 
  • Video shooting or light videography experience. 
  • Familiarity with 508/WCAG accessibility considerations for imagery. 

 

Skills 

  • Strong creative eye for composition, storytelling, and visual quality. 
  • Excellent attention to detail in editing and retouching. 
  • Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple assignments. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across teams.
