Overview

DecisionPoint seeks an Illustrator to develop high-quality custom illustrations, iconography, and visual storytelling elements supporting a large federal and DoD-aligned mission environment. This role enhances digital and print products through distinctive artwork that elevates user engagement, clarifies complex ideas, and strengthens brand identity. 

The Illustrator works collaboratively with designers, writers, multimedia teams, and communications specialists to deliver creative assets that align with enterprise standards and program requirements. This position contributes significantly to crafting visually compelling narratives across campaigns, digital experiences, and mission-oriented communications. 

This position is fully remote.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Illustrator will: 

  • Create custom illustrations, icons, diagrams, and graphic elements to support digital and print content. 
  • Develop visual storytelling components that simplify complex concepts for diverse audiences. 
  • Produce artwork aligned with enterprise brand standards, visual governance, and accessibility guidelines. 
  • Collaborate with designers, UX teams, and content creators to integrate illustrations into layouts and multimedia. 
  • Adapt illustration styles for campaigns, products, and various formats (web, social, print, presentations). 
  • Provide rapid-turn creative support for high-visibility initiatives and leadership communications. 
  • Prepare illustration files for production, ensuring proper formatting, resolution, and color profiles. 
  • Maintain organized illustration libraries and support version control for creative assets. 
  • Support iterative design processes, incorporating stakeholder feedback into refined visuals. 

Qualifications

Clearance Requirement 

Candidate must possess a Tier 2 Moderate Risk Public Trust (from any federal agency) or an active Secret clearance or higher. 

 

Education (Required) 

Bachelor’s degree in Illustration, Fine Arts, Graphic Design, or a related creative field. 

 

Experience (Required) 

  • Minimum 5 years of professional illustration experience. 
  • Experience creating artwork for digital content, print materials, campaigns, or public-facing communications. 
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional creative and communications teams. 
  • Experience maintaining illustration consistency across branding and style systems. 

 

Technical Knowledge (Required) 

  • Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and related illustration tools. 
  • Strong understanding of composition, visual hierarchy, color theory, and drawing techniques. 
  • Ability to export and prepare artwork for digital and print distribution. 
  • Knowledge of accessibility considerations for visual content (508/WCAG). 

Technical Knowledge (Preferred) 

  • Experience with motion graphics or animation formats. 
  • Familiarity with Figma or vector-based UI systems. 
  • Experience supporting federal or DoD communication programs. 

 

Skills 

  • Strong illustration, conceptual development, and storytelling abilities. 
  • Exceptional attention to detail in line work, shading, typography integration, and layout. 
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and produce consistent high-quality deliverables. 
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams. 
  • Ability to interpret strategic direction into compelling visual concepts.
