Overview

DecisionPoint seeks Cloud Platform Engineers to support the engineering, configuration, and operation of IL5 cloud environments within AWS GovCloud for a large federal and DoD-aligned mission environment. These roles focus on implementing managed cloud services, developing and maintaining Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) modules, configuring cloud environments, deploying observability tooling, and ensuring cloud platform reliability. 

Cloud Platform Engineers collaborate with cloud architects, cybersecurity teams, DevSecOps engineers, and application teams to maintain secure, consistent, and scalable infrastructure patterns across development, testing, staging, and production environments. 

These positions are fully remote.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Cloud Platform Engineer will: 

  • Implement and maintain IL5-compliant cloud infrastructure using AWS GovCloud services. 
  • Develop, update, and manage Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) modules using Terraform, CloudFormation, or equivalent tools. 
  • Configure cloud environments, baseline settings, identity controls, and resource policies. 
  • Deploy monitoring agents, logging solutions, and observability integrations across the platform. 
  • Support platform operations, including performance tuning, patching, and resource optimization. 
  • Ensure platform configurations comply with RMF, STIGs, and Zero Trust requirements. 
  • Assist with environment provisioning, landing zone updates, and deployment automation. 
  • Troubleshoot cloud platform issues involving IAM, networking, compute, storage, or logging. 
  • Maintain platform documentation, architecture diagrams, and IaC repositories. 
  • Support application teams by providing cloud platform services, shared components, and guidance. 
  • Participate in Change Control Board (CCB) meetings for cloud platform updates. 

Qualifications

Clearance Requirement 

Must hold an active Top Secret clearance, supported by a Tier 5 background investigation. 

 

Education (Required) 

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cloud Engineering, or a related field. 

 

Experience (Required) 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in cloud engineering, systems administration, or DevSecOps. 
  • Experience developing and maintaining Infrastructure-as-Code modules. 
  • Experience configuring cloud environments, logging, monitoring, or platform services. 
  • Experience supporting federal or DoD cloud environments. 

 

Technical Knowledge (Required) 

  • Knowledge of AWS GovCloud services and cloud configuration principles. 
  • Proficiency with Terraform, CloudFormation, or other IaC tooling. 
  • Familiarity with cloud logging, monitoring, and observability agents. 
  • Understanding of DoD RMF, STIGs, Zero Trust, and IL5 cloud requirements. 

Technical Knowledge (Preferred) 

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated cloud deployments. 
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes, containers, or modern app hosting patterns. 
  • Experience with cloud compliance monitoring tools (AWS Config, Prisma, etc.). 

 

Certifications 

Required: 

  • Cloud Practitioner certification (AWS or equivalent) 

Preferred: 

  • CompTIA Security+ 
  • AWS Administrator or Solutions Architect certification 
  • ITIL v4 Foundation 

 

Skills 

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities for cloud platform issues. 
  • Excellent communication skills for cross-team collaboration. 
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in cloud configuration and IaC development. 
  • Ability to document platform configurations, standards, and operating procedures. 
  • Strong ability to manage multiple workloads in a fast-paced mission environment.
