Overview

DecisionPoint seeks a Cloud Configuration Engineer to implement cloud architecture standards, maintain configuration baselines, and ensure cloud configuration compliance across a large federal and DoD-aligned mission environment. This role maintains AWS GovCloud configuration integrity using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), supports CMDB accuracy for cloud resources, and enforces cloud configuration governance aligned with IL5 and Zero Trust principles. 

The Cloud Configuration Engineer works closely with cloud architects, cybersecurity teams, DevSecOps engineers, and system administrators to ensure cloud environments remain consistent, secure, and aligned with enterprise technical standards. 

This position is fully remote.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Cloud Configuration Engineer will: 

  • Implement cloud architecture standards using Infrastructure-as-Code tooling (Terraform, CloudFormation). 
  • Maintain cloud configuration baselines for IL5 AWS GovCloud environments. 
  • Update and validate CMDB entries related to cloud resources, configurations, and dependencies. 
  • Monitor cloud configuration drift and enforce compliance with enterprise standards. 
  • Support configuration audits, remediation actions, and version control for baseline updates. 
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance with RMF controls, STIGs, and IL5 cloud requirements. 
  • Work with DevSecOps engineers to integrate IaC into CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments. 
  • Assist in cloud asset inventory, tagging standards, and configuration documentation. 
  • Support troubleshooting of configuration-related issues across cloud services. 
  • Produce configuration diagrams, baseline documentation, and change control artifacts. 
  • Participate in Change Control Board (CCB) reviews for cloud configuration changes. 

Qualifications

Clearance Requirement 

Must hold an active Top Secret clearance, supported by a Tier 5 background investigation. 

 

Education (Required) 

Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. 

 

Experience (Required) 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in cloud engineering, systems administration, or configuration management. 
  • Experience implementing cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code tools. 
  • Experience maintaining configuration baselines, CMDB updates, or configuration governance. 
  • Experience supporting IL5 or federal cloud environments. 

 

Technical Knowledge (Required) 

  • Knowledge of AWS GovCloud services and cloud resource configuration. 
  • Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, or equivalent IaC tooling. 
  • Understanding of configuration management, CMDB practices, and baseline control. 
  • Knowledge of DoD cloud security requirements, RMF, and Zero Trust alignment. 

Technical Knowledge (Preferred) 

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment patterns. 
  • Experience with cloud compliance monitoring tools (AWS Config, Prisma, etc.). 
  • Familiarity with container platforms or microservices architectures. 

 

Certifications 

Required: 

  • CompTIA Security+ 

Preferred: 

  • ITIL v4 Foundation 
  • AWS Administrator or Solutions Architect certification 
  • CMDB or configuration management certifications 

 

Skills 

  • Strong attention to detail and configuration accuracy. 
  • Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration skills. 
  • Ability to manage configuration baselines in dynamic cloud environments. 
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. 
  • Ability to document and maintain accurate configuration standards and artifacts.
