Overview

DecisionPoint seeks Cloud Systems Administrators to support day-to-day IL5 cloud operations within AWS GovCloud for a large federal and DoD-aligned mission environment. These roles perform patching, backup and recovery support, scanning remediation, IAM user provisioning, cloud resource administration, and troubleshooting across production and non-production environments. 

Cloud Systems Administrators work closely with cloud platform engineers, cybersecurity teams, network engineers, and application teams to maintain secure, stable, and compliant cloud environments aligned with Zero Trust, RMF, and IL5 requirements. 

These positions are fully remote.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Cloud Systems Administrator will: 

  • Perform daily cloud operations including provisioning, configuration changes, and resource upkeep. 
  • Conduct system patching for servers, containers, and managed cloud services. 
  • Support backup operations, restore testing, and log validation for IL5 environments. 
  • Perform vulnerability scanning remediation and apply required security updates. 
  • Manage IAM user provisioning, access reviews, and permissions troubleshooting. 
  • Monitor cloud services, analyze logs, and identify anomalies or performance issues. 
  • Troubleshoot environment issues involving compute, storage, network, IAM, or application dependencies. 
  • Support configuration baselines, tagging policies, and compliance requirements. 
  • Maintain system health dashboards, operational checklists, and reporting logs. 
  • Participate in Change Control Board (CCB) processes for system updates and patch approvals. 
  • Document procedures, maintenance records, and operational notes in the enterprise knowledge base.

Qualifications

Clearance Requirement 

Must hold an active Top Secret clearance, supported by a Tier 5 background investigation. 

 

Education (Required) 

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Administration, or a related field. 

 

Experience (Required) 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in cloud systems administration or enterprise system operations. 
  • Experience with patching, backups, and vulnerability remediation in cloud environments. 
  • Experience troubleshooting cloud environments, logs, and system-level issues. 
  • Experience supporting IL5, DoD, or secure federal cloud environments. 

 

Technical Knowledge (Required) 

  • Knowledge of AWS GovCloud compute, storage, network, and IAM services. 
  • Familiarity with cloud patching, backup tools, and scanning remediation workflows. 
  • Understanding of cloud logging, monitoring, and troubleshooting techniques. 
  • Knowledge of IL5 compliance, RMF controls, and Zero Trust operational requirements. 

Technical Knowledge (Preferred) 

  • Experience with automation or scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell). 
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation). 
  • Familiarity with SIEM tools and cloud security platforms. 

 

Certifications 

Required: 

  • CompTIA Security+ or AWS Cloud Practitioner 

Preferred: 

  • AWS Administrator or Solutions Architect certification 
  • ITIL v4 Foundation
