Overview

DecisionPoint seeks Back-End Developers to support enterprise application development within a large federal and DoD-aligned mission environment. These roles develop, enhance, and maintain backend services, APIs, automation workflows, and business logic that power mission-critical applications. 

Back-End Developers will implement new features, fix defects, consume and integrate APIs, support modular enhancements, and ensure backend code aligns with secure coding and performance requirements. They will collaborate closely with senior engineers, front-end developers, product teams, and cloud operations to deliver reliable, scalable backend capabilities. 

These positions are fully remote.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Back-End Developer will: 

  • Develop and maintain backend application features, business logic, and system integrations. 
  • Implement bug fixes, enhancements, and updates to existing backend codebases. 
  • Consume and integrate APIs, ensuring secure and reliable backend data handling. 
  • Build and optimize backend services, controllers, and data access layers. 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application defects, performance issues, and integration failures. 
  • Collaborate with front-end teams to support API-based UI development. 
  • Ensure backend code adheres to secure coding practices and DoD cybersecurity requirements. 
  • Participate in code reviews, sprint ceremonies, and backlog refinement activities. 
  • Support testing, validation, and deployment activities within DevSecOps pipelines. 
  • Maintain backend documentation including service diagrams, API usage notes, and integration details. 

Qualifications

Clearance Requirement 

Must hold an active Secret clearance, supported by a Tier 3 background investigation. 

 

Education (Required) 

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field. 

 

Experience (Required) 

  • Minimum 5 years of back-end software development experience. 
  • Experience maintaining and enhancing enterprise application back-end services. 
  • Experience consuming and integrating APIs in distributed application environments. 
  • Experience supporting Agile development teams. 

 

Technical Knowledge (Required) 

  • Proficiency in one or more backend languages (Java, Python, C#, Node.js, etc.). 
  • Understanding of REST APIs, data modeling, and backend service design. 
  • Familiarity with secure coding principles and backend security patterns. 
  • Knowledge of relational or NoSQL databases. 

Technical Knowledge (Preferred) 

  • Experience with AWS or cloud-native backend development. 
  • Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps processes. 
  • Familiarity with logging, monitoring, and troubleshooting tools. 

 

Certifications 

Preferred: 

  • CompTIA Security+ 
  • ITIL v4 Foundation 
  • Backend or cloud-related certifications 

 

Skills 

  • Strong backend development and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills. 
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to code quality. 
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced mission environment.
