Overview

DecisionPoint seeks QA / 508 / Test Engineers to support quality assurance, accessibility compliance, and software testing for enterprise applications within a large federal and DoD-aligned IT mission environment. These roles perform manual and automated testing, execute user acceptance testing (UAT), reproduce defects, validate accessibility requirements, and verify system functionality across development environments. 

The QA / 508 / Test Engineers ensure secure, reliable, and compliant application delivery by partnering with developers, system engineers, product teams, and accessibility specialists to validate features before deployment. 

These positions are fully remote.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • The QA / 508 / Test Engineer will: 

    • Develop and execute manual and automated test plans, test cases, and test scripts. 
    • Perform functional, regression, integration, system, and user acceptance testing. 
    • Reproduce defects, document root cause indicators, and validate fixes. 
    • Validate accessibility compliance against Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA standards. 
    • Perform cross-browser, cross-device, and responsive UI testing. 
    • Verify API functionality, error handling, and backend service interactions. 
    • Maintain testing documentation including test results, traceability matrices, and defect logs. 
    • Collaborate with developers and product owners to refine acceptance criteria and test scenarios. 
    • Support automation framework updates and contribute new automated test scripts. 
    • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, refinement, and reviews. 
    • Provide recommendations for improving test coverage, quality processes, and release readiness. 

Qualifications

Clearance Requirement 

Must hold an active Secret clearance, supported by a Tier 3 background investigation. 

 

Education (Required) 

Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Quality Assurance, Testing, or a related technical field. 

 

Experience (Required) 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in software testing, QA engineering, or related fields. 
  • Experience performing manual and automated test execution. 
  • Experience validating accessibility compliance (WCAG/508). 
  • Experience testing web applications, APIs, and enterprise systems. 
  • Experience documenting defects, root cause indicators, and test results. 

 

Technical Knowledge (Required) 

  • Strong understanding of QA methodologies, SDLC, and Agile testing practices. 
  • Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 / Section 508 accessibility testing. 
  • Experience with test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright). 
  • Familiarity with API testing tools (e.g., Postman, SoapUI). 

Technical Knowledge (Preferred) 

  • Experience working in DoD or federal IT environments. 
  • Experience with CI/CD testing integration. 
  • Familiarity with load/performance testing tools. 

 

Certifications 

Required: 

  • WCAG / Section 508 Accessibility Certification 

Preferred: 

  • CompTIA Security+ 
  • ITIL v4 Foundation 
  • Certified Software Tester (CSTE) or similar QA certifications 

 

Skills 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documenting results. 
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality. 
  • Ability to collaborate across development, product, and engineering teams. 
  • Strong organizational skills for managing multiple test cycles simultaneously.
