Overview

DecisionPoint seeks a Business Analyst to support requirements documentation, feature definition, release planning, and technical writing for a large federal and DoD-aligned IT mission environment. This role develops user stories, gathers requirements, documents sprint outputs, and produces clear, well-structured release notes, user guides, and technical documentation. 

The Business Analyst works closely with product owners, developers, cybersecurity teams, and cloud engineers to ensure requirements are accurately captured, communicated, and validated throughout the delivery lifecycle. 

This position is fully remote.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Business Analyst will: 

  • Document functional and technical requirements through stakeholder interviews, workshops, and analysis. 
  • Produce sprint documentation including user stories, acceptance criteria, refinement notes, and sprint review summaries. 
  • Develop release notes for application updates, enhancements, and platform changes. 
  • Maintain user guides, onboarding materials, help documentation, and training materials. 
  • Create and maintain API documentation, including request/response details, integration notes, and usage guidance. 
  • Support backlog grooming and feature refinement sessions with product and technical teams. 
  • Document workflow diagrams, process maps, and system interactions. 
  • Coordinate with developers, testers, and security personnel to ensure requirements clarity and completeness. 
  • Maintain documentation repositories, version control, and content management standards. 
  • Support UAT planning, test case development, and user-facing communication. 

Qualifications

Clearance Requirement 

Must hold an active Secret clearance, supported by a Tier 3 background investigation. 

 

Education (Required) 

Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Communications, Information Technology, or a related field. 

 

Experience (Required) 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Technical Writer, or Documentation Specialist. 
  • Experience documenting requirements, user stories, and technical workflows. 
  • Experience producing release notes, user guides, or API documentation. 
  • Experience supporting Agile development teams and sprint cycles. 
  • Experience collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders in enterprise environments. 

 

Technical Knowledge (Required) 

  • Strong understanding of requirements analysis, documentation practices, and Agile delivery. 
  • Familiarity with API concepts and technical documentation standards. 
  • Ability to create process flows, diagrams, and structured documentation. 

Technical Knowledge (Preferred) 

  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or similar Agile tools. 
  • Familiarity with DoD or federal IT environments. 

 

Certifications 

Preferred: 

  • ITIL v4 Foundation 
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Agile certifications 
  • Technical writing certifications 

 

Skills 

  • Excellent written communication and documentation skills. 
  • Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail. 
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, usable documentation. 
  • Strong facilitation skills for gathering requirements from diverse stakeholders. 
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple documentation workstreams.
