Overview

DecisionPoint seeks a Site Reliability and Performance Engineer to analyze and optimize system performance across a large-scale federal and DoD-aligned IT mission environment. This role monitors system health, evaluates latency and throughput, identifies bottlenecks, and ensures high availability for mission-critical services. 

The Site Reliability and Performance Engineer provides expert-level diagnostics, tuning recommendations, and technical insight that enhances system stability, reliability, and performance across cloud and on-prem environments. 

This position is fully remote.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Site Reliability / Performance Engineer will: 

  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics including latency, throughput, error rates, resource utilization, and uptime. 
  • Evaluate system health across applications, hosting environments, databases, and integrations. 
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and propose actionable tuning recommendations. 
  • Work with infrastructure, application, and security teams to validate and implement performance fixes. 
  • Conduct advanced log analysis and correlation using observability tools. 
  • Analyze incident trends and identify recurring stability issues. 
  • Support root cause analysis for service degradation events and outages. 
  • Develop dashboards, alerts, and performance reporting for leadership and technical teams. 
  • Recommend architecture changes that improve reliability, scalability, and performance. 
  • Document performance profiles, baselines, and tuning guidance. 

Qualifications

Clearance Requirement 

Must hold an active Secret clearance, supported by a Tier 3 background investigation. 

 

Education (Required) 

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field. 

 

Experience (Required) 

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in system performance engineering, site reliability engineering, or systems analysis. 
  • Experience analyzing system performance across applications, networks, and hosting environments. 
  • Experience conducting troubleshooting and performance tuning in complex enterprise environments. 
  • Experience using observability and monitoring tools. 

 

Technical Knowledge (Required) 

  • Strong understanding of performance metrics: latency, throughput, error rates, resource usage, and availability. 
  • Experience with performance monitoring tools and log analytics platforms. 
  • Knowledge of cloud or hybrid hosting environments. 
  • Understanding of system tuning methodologies and performance optimization strategies. 

Technical Knowledge (Preferred) 

  • Experience with distributed systems analysis. 
  • Familiarity with automation workflows to support performance testing. 
  • Experience with DoD or federal IT performance requirements. 

 

Skills 

  • Strong analytical problem-solving abilities. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting findings and recommendations. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with engineering, operations, and leadership teams. 
  • High attention to detail and a proactive approach to system optimization.
