Overview

DecisionPoint seeks a BI Developer and Engineer to design, build, and maintain enterprise dashboards and automated reporting pipelines for a large federal and DoD-aligned IT mission environment. This role supports operational visibility across availability, incident trends, security events, service desk KPIs, performance indicators, and other mission-critical metrics. 

The BI Developer / Engineer works closely with monitoring, cybersecurity, service desk, and engineering teams to enable data-driven decision making, analytics maturity, and real-time insight into system performance and operational health. This position also manages automated data ingestion, modeling, transformations, and dashboard optimization. 

This position is fully remote.

Duties & Responsibilities

The BI Developer / Engineer will: 

  • Design, build, and maintain dashboards using Power BI, Tableau, Grafana, or similar BI tools. 
  • Implement automated data pipelines and ETL processes that support operational reporting. 
  • Build dashboards for availability, incidents, service desk KPIs, operational metrics, and security events. 
  • Develop data models, transformations, and shared datasets used across reporting teams. 
  • Integrate data from monitoring platforms, incident management systems, logs, and operational databases. 
  • Ensure data quality, accuracy, consistency, and refresh reliability across all dashboards. 
  • Collaborate with IT operations, cybersecurity, cloud, and service desk teams to define reporting requirements. 
  • Support trend analysis, forecasting, and performance insights for leadership. 
  • Maintain documentation for data sources, dashboards, metrics definitions, and reporting templates. 
  • Optimize dashboard performance and ensure compliance with accessibility, governance, and federal reporting standards. 

Qualifications

Clearance Requirement 

Must hold an active Secret clearance, supported by a Tier 3 background investigation. 

 

Education (Required) 

Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field. 

 

Experience (Required) 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in BI development, data engineering, analytics, or related fields. 
  • Experience developing dashboards using Power BI, Tableau, Grafana, or similar BI platforms. 
  • Experience building automated data pipelines and ETL workflows. 
  • Experience supporting reporting needs in enterprise IT or federal environments. 

 

Technical Knowledge (Required) 

  • Proficiency in dashboard development and data visualization. 
  • Strong SQL and ETL development skills. 
  • Knowledge of data modeling, dataset optimization, and automated refresh schedules. 
  • Experience integrating data from monitoring, ticketing, and operational systems. 

Technical Knowledge (Preferred) 

  • Experience with cloud data services such as AWS or Azure. 
  • Familiarity with log analytics platforms or observability tools. 
  • Knowledge of DAX, M Query, or scripting languages used for BI automation. 

 

Skills 

  • Strong analytical and visualization skills. 
  • Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights. 
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities. 
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and data quality management. 
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional technical and operational teams.
