Overview

DecisionPoint seeks a Network Engineer to implement secure network architectures, segmentation strategies, and boundary protection capabilities to support a large federal and DoD-aligned mission environment. This role focuses on east-west traffic control, network policy enforcement, secure access pathways, and network posture management across hybrid infrastructure.

The Network Engineer plays a critical role in enabling Zero Trust-aligned network designs, supporting secure data flow, reducing lateral movement risk, and ensuring mission systems operate within hardened, well-governed network boundaries.

This position is fully remote.

Note: By applying to this position, you acknowledge and consent to having your resume included in an active competitive government contract bid.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Network Engineer will:

  • Implement network segmentation models and enforce least-privilege communication paths.
  • Design and deploy east-west traffic controls that monitor, restrict, and validate internal network movement.
  • Configure network policy enforcement points, access control lists, and route controls.
  • Support secure boundary design, including firewalls, gateways, cloud-edge services, and interconnects.
  • Maintain network posture by enforcing baselines, monitoring misconfigurations, and supporting compliance validation.
  • Assist with network modernization and Zero Trust-aligned architectures.
  • Coordinate with cybersecurity teams on network hardening, monitoring integrations, and continuous improvement.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues across hybrid cloud and on-premise environments.
  • Support development of network architecture documentation, diagrams, policy standards, and configuration guides.
  • Monitor network health, bandwidth utilization, performance metrics, and security telemetry.
  • Contribute to incident response activities related to network anomalies, misconfigurations, or security events.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining network playbooks, SOPs, and operational processes.
