Overview

DecisionPoint seeks a CMS Development and Architecture Lead to support enterprise-level Content Management System modernization, feature development, and technical architecture within a large federal and DoD-aligned mission environment. This role architects and oversees the development of CMS modules, templates, custom components, API integrations, single sign-on flows, and search capabilities while ensuring adherence to security requirements and coding best practices. 

The CMS Development and Architecture Lead plays a key role in shaping the technical roadmap, advising on modernization paths, and ensuring stable, secure, scalable CMS implementation that aligns with mission needs. 

This position is fully remote.

Duties & Responsibilities

The CMS Development and Architecture Lead will: 

  • Architect CMS modules, templates, content structures, and system workflows that support enterprise mission requirements. 
  • Develop and oversee implementation of API integrations, backend data connections, and cross-system communication points. 
  • Design and maintain secure single sign-on (SSO) flows, identity integrations, and user authentication patterns. 
  • Define search architecture, indexing logic, metadata structures, and content discovery enhancements. 
  • Provide coding oversight, technical reviews, and quality checks to ensure adherence to security, maintainability, and accessibility standards. 
  • Lead CMS modernization planning, including assessment of new capabilities, platform enhancements, and long-term architecture improvements. 
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance with DoD security requirements, including patching, secure coding, and vulnerability remediation. 
  • Partner with infrastructure teams on deployment patterns, cloud hosting considerations, performance optimization, and scalability planning. 
  • Support sprint planning, backlog refinement, and technical prioritization with product owners and PMO staff. 
  • Troubleshoot complex CMS and integration issues, performing root cause analysis and recommending long-term solutions. 
  • Produce technical documentation, architecture diagrams, development standards, and API specifications. 
  • Mentor junior developers and contribute to a high-performing development culture. 

Qualifications

Clearance Requirement 

  • Must hold an active Secret clearance, supported by a Tier 3 background investigation. 

 

Education (Required) 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field. 

 

Experience (Required) 

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in software development, CMS development, or enterprise application engineering. 
  • Experience architecting CMS components, templates, modules, API integrations, or enterprise web applications. 
  • Experience developing secure code in compliance with DoD, federal, or industry cybersecurity standards. 
  • Experience integrating authentication systems, identity providers, and SSO frameworks. 
  • Experience troubleshooting complex code, integrations, or system interactions in enterprise environments. 

 

Technical Knowledge (Required) 

  • Strong understanding of CMS frameworks, content modeling, templates, themes, and module/plugin architecture. 
  • Experience developing REST APIs, JSON integrations, and service-layer interactions. 
  • Knowledge of secure coding practices aligned with DoD cybersecurity requirements. 
  • Familiarity with search technologies, indexing services, metadata design, and content discovery patterns. 
  • Proficiency with version control, code review processes, and modern development practices. 

Technical Knowledge (Preferred) 

  • Experience with headless CMS, microservices, or decoupled architectures. 
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevSecOps practices. 
  • Familiarity with frontend frameworks or component-based UI approaches. 

 

Certifications 

Required: 

  • CompTIA Security+ 

Preferred: 

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) 
  • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or equivalent 
  • PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI ACP) 

 

Skills 

  • Strong problem solving and analytical abilities, especially for complex CMS or integration challenges. 
  • Clear, concise communication skills for collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders. 
  • Ability to lead architectural discussions and provide expert technical guidance. 
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to secure, scalable, maintainable code. 
  • Ability to balance tactical development needs with long-term modernization strategies.
