Come join our team as a Configuration Management and Oracle Installation Lead on the UNITED STATES TRANSPORTATION COMMAND MILITARY SURFACE DEPLOYMENT AND DISTRIBUTION COMMAND (SDDC) Transportation Financial Management System (TFMS) contract!

 

We are seeking an experienced Configuration Management and Oracle Installation Lead, with a Git and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) background preferred, to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge in Oracle database scripting, with hands-on expertise in automated and manual installation of database and related system code. In addition, the candidate should be proficient in using GitLab for version control, continuous integration, and related tasks. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong problem-solving skills to act as a hands on technical resource as well as a bridge between development and infrastructure teams, coordinate deliverables between development teams and clients and contribute to efficient software development practices.

 

This position is 100% remote work and requires an active Secret clearance.   

Duties & Responsibilities

Configuration Management:

  • Perform manual installation and configuration of running Oracle databases. (e.g. install data fixes, repair invalid objects)
  • Work with the application teams as the CM lead, supporting integration of Oracle databases with web services and other data sharing mechanisms.
  • Promote good CI/CD practices including helping bring a DevOps mindset to team members.
  • Support the training of team members on Git and GitLab methodologies.
  • Create SCR’s in SBM.  Support code migration through multiple environments and migrate code over to AWS. Create new SCR’s on CDE.
  • Support code migrations through CDE environments and perform Fortify scans as needed
  • Migrate completed/approved code to AWS and coordinate approvals for delivery to Government test environment

Manual Installation of Database Code:

  • Install and configure custom database code (e.g., PL/SQL scripts, stored procedures, triggers) within Oracle databases.
  • Coordinate with developers to ensure proper code deployments, migrations, and version control.
  • Ensure all database changes are well-documented and follow established procedures for code release management.

GitLab Integration:

  • Use GitLab for version control, source code management, and tracking changes related to database scripts and related code.
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure smooth integration of database changes with application code.
  • Support CI/CD pipeline integration for database code and work with DevOps teams to automate deployment processes where applicable.

Database Optimization & Troubleshooting:

  • Perform routine performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting to ensure database uptime and efficiency.
  • Assist in analyzing and resolving database performance bottlenecks and resource allocation issues.

Collaboration and Documentation:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (DevOps, Development, Operations) to ensure database changes are executed smoothly and with minimal downtime.
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior database administrators and developers.
  • Ensure all database processes and changes are well-documented and adhere to best practices.

Qualifications

  • Active secret clearance required.
  • Proven experience with Oracle database administration, including manual installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of Oracle architecture, performance tuning, backup, and recovery procedures.
  • Experience deploying database code (PL/SQL scripts, stored procedures) into production environments.

GitLab & Version Control:

  • Experience using GitLab for version control and source code management.
  • Familiarity with GitLab CI/CD pipelines, particularly as it relates to automating database code deployments.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Proficient in SQL and PL/SQL.
  • Experience with database performance optimization techniques.

Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting:

  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly identify and resolve database-related issues.
  • Familiar with database monitoring tools and methods for diagnosing performance issues.
  • Capacity to make decisions independently, prioritizing workload based on customer needs.

Communication & Documentation:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to document processes, changes, and configurations clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to identify, document, and communicate recommended process improvements.
