Overview

DecisionPoint Corporation is seeking a Mid-Level System Administrator to join the Global Transportation Planning (GTP) and Groups Operational Passenger System (GOPAX) program. The System Administrator will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing system environments, including development, testing, and production systems. They will also be tasked with monitoring system health, resolving performance issues, and ensuring the security and reliability of the GTP/GOPAX systems.

 

This position is onsite at Scott AFB.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage system administration tasks, including configuring and maintaining both client and server computer systems (Windows, Red Hat Linux, and Amazon Linux environments).
  • Oversee the installation and maintenance of web servers (Apache HTTP Server, Microsoft IIS), database systems (MySQL, Oracle DBMS, Microsoft SQL Server), and applications.
  • Perform regular updates, patching, and configuration management using tools like Chef, SaltStack, and CloudFormation.
  • Ensure the timely completion of system backups, restores, and system integrity checks.
  • Monitor system performance using cloud-based monitoring tools such as AWS CloudWatch and Docker for containerization, ensuring optimal resource usage.
  • Provide support for account management, directory structures, user group configurations, and user permissions.
  • Conduct vulnerability mitigation and remediation activities using Nessus/ACAS, webInspect, and SonarQube.
  • Collaborate with development and database teams to maintain system stability, security, and compliance with DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) standards.
  • Assist in deploying and maintaining virtual machine environments (VMware), creating system templates, and supporting server auto-provisioning tasks.
  • Troubleshoot system or application errors and ensure the system’s availability to the user community.

Qualifications

  • Active Secret Clearance.
  • Must hold an active an IAT Level II certification; CompTIA Security+ CE highly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related disciplines, along with technical certifications in relevant programming languages and systems administration.
  • 4+ years of system administration experience, including working in multi-platform environments (Windows, Linux).
  • Expertise in web servers (Apache, Microsoft IIS) and databases (MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server).
  • Proficiency in Shell scripting, Powershell, YAML, and JSON for automation.
  • Experience in managing cloud environments (AWS, Docker, VMware) and using configuration management tools (Chef, Terraform).
  • Familiarity with security scanning tools (Nessus, webInspect) and vulnerability remediation processes.
  • Ability to collaborate with teams using Atlassian Tool Suite (JIRA, Confluence).
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex system environments.
