Overview

DecisionPoint Corporation is seeking a Mid Test Engineer to join our US Transportation Command – Global Freight Management team. The Mid Test Engineer plays a vital role in ensuring the quality and functionality of software systems by performing comprehensive testing, system assessments, and engineering analysis. This position requires a deep understanding of industry best practices, system integration, and problem resolution. The Mid Test Engineer works closely with project leaders to manage scope, foster team cohesion, and meet client expectations. They independently apply critical thinking to evaluate tasks and estimate the necessary level of effort, using tools and processes relevant to the role. Key responsibilities include executing complex test cases, writing detailed documentation, and supporting developers during the debugging process. The engineer actively participates in Agile practices, such as sprint planning and stand-ups, and utilizes Jira and Confluence for project management and collaboration.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Apply technical expertise to client/contract mission, goals, and desired outcomes. 
  • Develop and complete quality project deliverables. 
  • Research, identify, and promote industry best practices. 
  • Communicate effectively with program/project leaders to manage project scope, team cohesion, and client expectations.
  • Apply applicable position-related tools and processes with limited direction.
  • Independently utilize critical thinking skills and learn to assess and estimate the required level of effort to a task/project based on experience.
  • Develop and apply systems-thinking to assigned tasks.
  • Provide clear and concise documentation and provide recommendations to the project team.
  • Perform complex engineering analysis and implementation tasks, including software development, system assessment, and testing.
  • Build trust through positive interactions with team members and stakeholders.                 
  • Addresses issues of system integration, compatibility, and software problem resolution.

Qualifications

  • Active Secret Clearance.
  • Must hold an active an IAT Level II certification: CompTIA Security+ CE highly preferred.
  • 5 years’ experience running tests, writing use cases, performing acceptance testing, and executing test scripts from a user perspective. 
  • College Degree (Degreed Engineer, EE, CE, MBA), technical experience and appropriate certifications
  • Familiarity with DoD application workflows and requirements with the ability to manage and understand cross-application workflows.
  • Experience with Scrum methodology, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. 
  • Proficiency in using Jira (or similar) for project management, issue tracking, and workflow customization.
  • Experience utilizing Confluence (or similar) for documentation, collaboration, and knowledge management. 
  • Proficiency creating and managing automated test suites.
  • Familiarity with processes for code quality and security analysis.
  • Experience supporting developers in the debugging process.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically about complex technical challenges 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
