Overview

DecisionPoint Corporation is seeking a Mid-Level Cloud Engineer to join our US Transportation Command – Global Freight Management team. The Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud-based solutions that align with DoD security standards, specifically DISA and FedRAMP IL2. This role involves supporting the development, testing, and production environments of the Global Freight Management (GFM) program, ensuring that all cloud infrastructure meets security, performance, and scalability requirements. The Cloud Engineer utilizes DevSecOps pipelines and cloud-native tools to automate, deploy, and optimize applications in a secure and efficient manner. The position also focuses on cloud migration, infrastructure automation, containerization, and platform-agnostic solutions, while maintaining compliance with DoD 8570 and 8140 requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and maintain cloud-native infrastructure in compliance with DoD security guidelines, including IL2 and IL5 environments for development, testing, training, and production.
  • Administer and execute DevSecOps practices using a variety of tools (e.g., Jenkins, Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible) to automate the deployment of secure GFM application software and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Ensure that all cloud environments, including the development and non-production environments, comply with DISA STIGs/SRGs, performing regular scans and providing compliance reports to the Government Information Assurance (IA) team.
  • Lead the assessment and migration of GFM environments to cloud platforms, including the transition from legacy systems to cloud-native architectures.
  • Develop migration strategies, refactoring plans, and ensure system optimization for cloud environments.
  • Implement automated resiliency capabilities, such as load balancing, automatic failover, and performance scaling, to ensure the GFM system maintains 99% uptime or better across multi-zone and multi-region configurations.
  • Design, implement, and manage containerized applications using tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Develop blueprints for containerization and maintain platform-agnostic pipelines for system interoperability and flexibility.
  • Perform security scans and ensure compliance with DoD security standards, including vulnerability assessments, automated monitoring, and remediation processes for cloud-based applications.
  • Maintain and update technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and cybersecurity artifacts to reflect changes in cloud architecture, security policies, and system configuration.
  • Work closely with government stakeholders, development teams, and other contractors to implement cloud-native solutions, troubleshoot system issues, and optimize cloud infrastructure performance.
  • Provide technical guidance on cloud services, automation, and system improvements.
  • Monitor cloud environments for cost efficiency, ensuring idle systems are shut down and unnecessary expenses are avoided, while maintaining optimal system performance.

Qualifications

  • Active Secret Clearance.
  • Must hold an active an IAT Level II certification; CompTIA Security+ CE highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in cloud engineering, systems administration, or related IT roles, with a focus on cloud infrastructure and DevSecOps practices.
  • High School diploma with technical experience; College degree preferred.
  • Must have relevant technical certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator, Google Cloud Professional Engineer).
  • Proficiency with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Extensive experience with DevSecOps tools and practices (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Jenkins, Ansible).
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, and associated microservices.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security standards (DISA STIGs, FedRAMP) and vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., Nessus, Fortify).
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Configuration as Code (CaC).
  • Familiarity with cloud-native services, load balancing, automated scaling, and multi-zone/region cloud architectures.
  • Expertise in implementing CI/CD pipelines and automation for cloud deployments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex cloud and system issues.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with technical teams, government personnel, and stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple cloud environments and ensure compliance with security standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
