Overview

DecisionPoint Corporation is seeking a Deputy Program Manager to join our US Transportation Command – Global Freight Management team. The Deputy Program Manager supports the planning, execution, and oversight of complex IT projects, ensuring that all project goals align with client objectives and corporate priorities. In this dual role, the Deputy Program Manager also serves as a Mid Developer when required, contributing to the technical aspects of the project by designing, developing, and maintaining software systems. This position requires strong leadership skills to manage project timelines, budgets, and risks, while also providing hands-on development support. The Deputy Program Manager works closely with senior leadership, stakeholders, and technical teams to deliver high-quality solutions on time and within budget.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist the Program Manager in overseeing IT projects, ensuring alignment with project goals, schedules, and budgets.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact when the Program Manager is unavailable, managing stakeholder communications and tracking project progress.
  • Lead technical and business teams in the planning, development, and deployment phases, ensuring that all deliverables meet business requirements and technical standards.
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure successful project execution.
  • Participate in software development when needed, handling tasks such as coding, testing, debugging, and maintaining robust software solutions.
  • Contribute to all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from design and development to deployment, with a focus on ensuring scalability and maintainability.
  • Ensure proper deployment and management of Java-based applications, maintaining optimal performance and availability.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for efficient software delivery.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely completion of project milestones.
  • Provide mentoring and leadership to development teams, ensuring adherence to best practices and industry standards.
  • Maintain and update project documentation using tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Ensure compliance with program schedules, security requirements, and contract deliverables.
  • Conduct regular project reviews and performance assessments to ensure project goals are met.
  • Manage personnel work schedules, ensuring adequate staffing for both development and management tasks.

Qualifications

  • Active Secret Clearance.
  • Must hold an active an IAT Level II certification; CompTIA Security+ CE highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in software development and project management.
  • BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, other related disciplines, or technical training
  • Proficiency in Java, with hands-on experience in software development and object-oriented programming principles.
  • Experience in managing CI/CD pipelines, including tools like GitLab and Jenkins.
  • Strong experience with project management tools such as Jira and collaboration platforms like Confluence.
  • Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage both technical and project management aspects of a program.
  • Experience in risk management, budget oversight, and stakeholder communication.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills required.
